The Von Gormandizer - A Daemon Inside A Daemon
This is a creature within a creature within a creature. It is a 1/6 scale composite creation made from pieces of hacked and adapted action man figures, hand made leather and feather wings, malformed, restructured guts and head/face parts made from black silicone, dates and tasty glace' cherries. I bought the bare skull and… -
Acting: Endurance- Wearing the Suit (silicone, foam latex, or other rubbers)
I will be building a full body suit very soon, I have plans for zippers and other seams for easy enter and exit to and from the sin tight body. I think I will make it out of the Soma Foama by smooth-on. There will be holes in high detail/ridged areas to help with breathing. My question is more on the acting side/wearing… -

King Covid - Made during the lockdown - Creature Sculpting Contest 2021 entry 3
I started this character as a way to express my emotions during the initial lockdown in March 2020. It was a rough time for a lot of people and I needed something to focus on. I admit, it's not finished, mainly because I haven't had any time for several months to do sculpting :( I wanted to explore the idea of what a Covid… -
Re: Foam Ovens, What can be used?
Hi bcrow, One of the big challenges with baking foam is the molds are often too big to fit into off-the-shelf made ovens/toasters/etc. so folks usually have to build their own. And for health and safety reasons it's not a good idea to bake it in the same oven you cook food in. Stop motion magazine has a back issue with… -
Prop Building LIVE Streams
Live streams are an amazing way to learn from other artists, bring artists and fans together, share information, and are a lot of fun. While watching the live streams you can chat with the artists as well as other viewers, ask questions, and learn about tools, techniques, and materials. Here is a list of some prop building… -
Re: Over the lip zombie denture tutorials
Although this type of dental appliance can be used to significant effect, it has some strong detractors you should be aware of. It can become increasingly uncomfortable to wear, the longer it is used. So, try to limit the amount of time wearing these dentures. Your actors will thank you for this. Any and ALL appliances… -

Re: Advice for casting head/shoulders in latex
That's great! Really helpful, thanks Chris! I guess my main sticking point was if I made an alginate mold, what kind of positive would I need to then get to a stone mold? Can I do a hydrocal cast, then seal/vaseline it, and do a hydrocal neg mold from that? Or would it be better to cast something like a resin positive to… -
Re: Angled eye mechanism.
Hello, Joel. I would recommend vacuforming the eyelids out of low density polyethelene. It forms extremely well. Barge contact cement adheres pretty well to it. And, it is strong, yet pliable enough to not scratch up the polish on your eyes. It also will not cause a lot of drag, should it contact the eyes. Make a… -
Homework - Tom Stewart
by Yukako Shimada · · Home› Puppet Mechanism Basics - Eyes, Brows & Ears with BJ Guyer - Watch & Chat› Homework - Puppet Mechanism Basics - Eyes, Brows & Ears with BJ GuyerHey guys, so I'm doing a Lumberjack type character- he has no mouth, just his moustache moves when he talks. I tried the second mech BJ showed and found that the mech is pretty good, however, it is more of an interior movement with springs etc. on the side I need facing in. I decided to go with the first mech but I needed… -
Archer, Emissary of the Gorgonites from Small Soldiers
Hey, it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted but I have been busy with lots of projects, one of those I’d like to enter into this painting contest. I hope this is the correct place to submit my entry. With that said some of you may be familiar with my work, very long story short I have been obsessed with the film Small… -
Fallen Angel Costume
I thought I'd enter this because the stuff I learned on Stan Winston saved my butt on this project! I had only two days on the SyFy show Cosplay Melee to create a full costume from scratch, including working pneumatic-powered wings (which I'd never done before). I used so many techniques I learned on the SW site over the… -

Re: Washable Makeup Blood/vomit
In the scenario where you can't communicate with the actor, the best bet is to assume the most common allergies and dietary restrictions. Try and avoid nuts, seeds, gluten/wheat, animal products (including JELLO, dairy, honey, eggs), soy, fish/shellfish, etc. Worst case scenario, have some food coloring and water handy.… -
Classic Frankenstein and Creature...with a twist
My favorite of the Classic Universal monsters has always been the creature from the black lagoon. He was my Dad's favorite, and now he is my 4 year old son's favorite. I introduced my son to the original movie a few months back, and he completely loved it. When we asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween, the creature… -

The Fishman. contest entry 2
Hello again everyone. :) Here is my second entry into the monster making contest. "Deep in the impenetrable forests of Gloomraven, a legend persists of a creature so unnatural and profane, that to even utter its name is to invite bad luck upon your family... I came to call this creature the Fishman. Part man, part fish and… -
AVPR : Wolf Predator Halloween 2018
This is my Halloween 🎃 costume 2018. I love the Predator franchise ,so I decided to build “Wolf Predator “ from Aliens vs Predator the Requiem movie . This build took over a year and a half . Everything was fabricated by me except the half mask and dreads , but was painted by me . The build used foam for the armor , 407… -
Zombie Drill instructor Animatronic Puppet
For my Twitch live stream ( https://www.twitch.tv/vexfx ) I plan on incorporating an on-screen Zombie Drill Instructor character to add a bit of Hollywood production value. I'll be sharing the process of bringing that character to life here on the forums as well. On last Saturday's live stream I sculpted a quick maquette…
