Werewolf Transformation
Hey there Stan Winston School! As some of you probably know by now, I like pulling off practical effects. If you guys like old monster movies, then you guys are going to be completely animated by what I'm going to ask you guys next: I'm very curious as to how I would pull off a werewolf-transformation if I wanted to do… -
Re: What's On Your Workbench? (Summer 2023)
This is my son as Hoggle for the Labyrinth Ball this last weekend. We sculpted, molded, and cast the head. My Brilliant wife fabricated the vest to perfection and we fabricated the costume in all the details including all the bobbles on his bandolier. He was the hit of the ball. I sculpted the head in monster clay, did a 2… -
Contacts - live actor eye treatments/affects
I have been watching classes for some months and have not come across any specific to contacts for eyes, color changes, iris shapes, etc.. I understand this to be a very touchy subject that threatens the very eyesight of the actor. Although it is avoided by most online sources out of a fear for liability, it would be nice… -
Re: Portfolio Pictures
Above I posted picture candidates ranging from special effects, film stills, & beauty makeup for my portfolio. A lot of my work has been photographed on the go (taken at the job or from a picture I obtained from the final product, or a still that was taking on set/during a project). Therefore, I found that many of my… -

Childs Lion Mask - Unique Twist on WOZ
Hello. Entering the mask for my sons Lion Costume for this years Halloween. The mask was made by myself from a cardboard box, duct tape and paper mache. I made a mash of paper and glue to build up areas on the head. I did not use a template or pattern, just made by viewing images of Lions hence the angles are off, and of… -
Kid or Zombie? Why not both?
This year my son wanted to dress up as himself AND as a zombie. His idea was to have a mask that looked like him and a secondary look underneath. After watching all sorts of courses on SWS, we started with a full-head lifecast and went on from there. The result was a pretty striking transformation. Video Reveal The mask… -

F-35 Magic Wheelchair costume
I built this costume as a volunteer builder for Magic Wheelchair. Dillon, our fighter pilot (call sign Green Lightning) , asked for a jet. We modeled the costume off of the F-35 and modified it to fit his wheelchair. The frame is 1" pvc. The body separates into two pieces and the wings also detach. The body and wings are… -
How can a make very thin layers of silicone?
I am making a medical surgery model our of various silicones and am making good progress. Cosmetically, the Winston tutorials have helped a lot. However, it seems that most organs have a thin membrane around them with thin veining within them. And, any surgical procedure involves removing this membrane (including the… -
My Alien Kreng- sculpture/resin bust
Hello all! My name is Michael Strapac and this is my alien submission to the Alien Art Contest. I really enjoy sculpting and casting resin busts, so that was the medium I decided to go with. Kreng developed as a mashup with shredder and krang properties. I really wanted to create something with that crown style headpiece.… -

Shú-Nagua is a prog rock/metal band from Wollongong, Australia, that bases its roots heavily within its sprawling lore and extensive fictional universe. Re: final critique post
The story of Liam O'Leary: "O'Leary worked as a bounty hunter specializing in tracking down escaped convicts. After many 'on the job injuries' (including a pulverized shin bone), Liam took to using cybernetic enhanced dogs for his dirty work. As a k9 companion would prove their usefulness, they would receive more upgrades.… -
Re: Single LED light hookup
For LEDs the power you supply to it and the resistor you put inline with it changes from LED to LED. Some even have the resistor built in so you don't need to calculate that. If you can find an electronics store that sells LEDs they can usually help you figure out the power supply and resistor. One great place to find LEDs… -
Re: Silicone Prosthetic Transfer Appliances: Age Makeup - Part 2 - (Free Chapter)
Hi David, For that I would recommend using a silicone adhesive like Telesis 5. Though that adhesive may be harder to find as it has been discontinued. An alternative that most makeup artists I know (including myself) have switched over to is Mouldlife's "Snappy G" adhesive. As you are planning on working around the mouth,… -
"Sully" aka "The Faceless One" This is my first sculpt and mask/character like this on my own.
This is the first time I was able to create something of this magnitude completely on my own. Sculpted in medium monster clay and casted in an impact resistant resin from smooth-on, with several other mediums in the mix, including but not limited to acrylic paint, pale night production's perma-blood paint, hand made…
