Completely forgot to share my build for my profile picture, my build as Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. Several years ago.  The world is awash with build advice on this one, so I just followed instructions. I sewed the vest from pattern. The pants are brown "scrubs". The belts are cut from light thickness conveyor belt material and adorned with picture frames. I cut and bent the brass rods for the buckle catch. The boots are my work boots folded over. The shirt I owned. The sash was a found table cloth torn and died with tea stain. The hair was a straight wig that I dread locked and shaped. The bandana was two sewn together, died then tea stained then sun bleached. Facial hair was my own except for the two beard braids of doll hair. I had not yet gained the idea of matching an onscreen pose so these poses were pretty harsh. My wife and my daughter both helped with makeup.

This was done a few years ago and was not a real serious build but turned out well. The suit jacket just has the collar turned up. The security badge is cut from furniture feet pads colored with chalk powder. The pins are ball point pen caps covered with tinfoil. The belt is cut vinyl with a custom buckle made from soda can aluminum. I was particularly happy with the pose, matching the onscreen pose of the actor. Galen Erso from Rogue One.

This one was started due to some strange public encounters. Twice in one week strangers would stop and stare and then say "you look just like him". After finding that "him" was Kyle from Last Man Standing, I knew I could successfully do this cosplay. My friend's daughters commented in 2021 that I could easily do a "Kyle" costume and it pushed me to get it done. The background is clipped from a picture where Kyle is in this same position and pose.

As for the costume: shoes found and purchased online from ebay to match his used brown shoes, pants I already owned, the belt purchased from England's Belt-Designs.com with a special double clasp belt buckle, the hat from France's Bon Clic Bon with custom color band to match screen used colors. The shirt was from Jiffy shirts or Full Quality Prints (I bought several in hopes of getting the right shade of green) but the logo embroidery was done locally by Paramount Printing. I created the logo from screen captures, rebuilding it and custom making the show's font in Photoshop. I had the stitch file made with specific instructions on color correction, knowing the image would change drastically when dropped to seven color for stitching. They made serious corrections to the file to meet my request and produced a screen match, first time off the embroidery machine. It looks exactly like Kyle's shirt logo. There were several vendors online claiming to have this logo but were far from the original design and none had the custom font.

This includes two fake buck teeth I made from fake fingernails (found this idea in a video, my apologies for not having the name of the presenter) rigged onto a wire guard. My hair was bleached at a local salon and the I colored it in stages myself to screen match. When it was correct, I did the same with eyebrows, mustache and goatee and shaved to match character.

I am still working on this build. This split picture is my new method of comparison to find the fine differences needed to match the character. Dicaprio is on the side with the white banner title. I found that by doing this half/half my brain really engages on noting all the differences. Imagine looking in the mirror and seeing one of your eyebrows didn't match the other. Every difference stands out clearly.

I did the injury makeup after Stan Winston classes. My gnarly forehead wound didn't get to show in this pic. The beard is fake and the snow is icing.

This build was another challenge from a friend. The hat decorations are all hand made as is the signature eagle necklace. My pose is different than Kid in one way: his necklace was flopped in his photo and I spent too much time replicating his necklace to not have it face front and clearly be displayed. The background was pasted from Kid's original picture. The hat decorations I chose are a mixture of three of his custom hats. I later found that they are either purchased from Kyle Petty or produced by the same vendor. This means that I will now do a Kyle Petty cosplay, of course.

Portions of the facial hair were fake and I built the hair extensions with end clips. The fur was borrowed from a friend.

Zooming in, you will see my nose imperfections. I left them as I don't do photo touchups and want to challenge myself to rely on my costuming and makeup skills to pull off the look. In my pics, I will often use a photoshopped background but the costume and myself in the photo are untouched. These classes have made so many more things possible for my builds.

This was my first, ever, prosthetic.

This build was a redo of a quick costume made years earlier. Only after Stan Winston classes was I willing to attempt the fake facial hair and prosthetic nose for the completed look.

I was absolutely over the moon about how this turned out. This was all hand made except the pants. I found an 8x pair of pants in the right fabric and modified them to match. When I get down to the weight of the actor I will revisit this for screen match pose photos.
