Yamamba by Danica

My model was from Japan and i thought it would be fun to use a story from there as my final at MUD. This is my version of the Japanese folklore of Yama-uba. The story is of this horrible, cannibalistic witch who tricks young pregnant women to give birth only too late to realize it's Yamamba. In some variants, she instead of eating one of the infants, raises and even nurses the baby.  This child grows to be a hero and even has his own folklore.  In my makeup i use an old baby doll that i painted red then wrapped in a robe. I wanted her to be blind and used the texture of the Japanese salamander as reference.
