Boris–Shelley Frankenstein
It's a pleasure to participate in a place from my deepest dreams, and what better way to do it than with a character so important to culture, and to me...Frankenstein’s monster!
The prosthetic was entirely made by me. I aimed for the piece to be based on the description of the monster by the great Mary Shelley, while also incorporating the legendary silhouette brought to life by the iconic Boris Karloff. I also included an element adapted from his eternal love: I dyed a strand of my hair white to reference the iconic hairstyle of The Bride, portrayed by Elsa Lanchester.
The overall look is a blend of what I imagined when reading the story how the monster’s eyes, skin, and hair were described, combined with his cinematic counterparts.
I also did body paint work on my chest, hands, and arms, using different colors and painted stitches to complete the ensemble.
From Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Dante Rodríguez sends his greetings to the word!
