Prosthetics in Hair Questions

Looking for suggestions on how to attach larger prosthetics that may go over an actor/model's hair, example would be a burn victim bringing the prosthetic up their face and onto the side of their head. I recently did something with bobby-pins to clip the prosthetic into the hair, while it worked I was curious what the actual method is? Another example would be Colin Farrell's Penguin makeup, they slick down his actual hair to glue prosthetics onto...what is being used to put the hair down? How do you remove it?  If there is a course on here explaining this I would love to watch to take notes.
