2024 Halloween Costume Contest- Subject Delta/Big Daddy- BioShock
Couldn't find another way to change my old thread to the Halloween Costume contest, but definitely wanted a chance to possibly appear on the facebook page!
This is our Subject Delta from BioShock 2. I have a WIP thread also on here but here is what all this consisted of. Everything on the costume was done by my team (CobbatronFx, my wife, and myself) except for the file for the drill. The drill 3D model was done by someone outside of my team and I. Otherwise, the rest of this costume was all done by our shop. It features:

Everything on the costume was done by my team (CobbatronFx, my wife, and myself) except for the file for the drill. The drill 3D model was done by someone outside of my team and I. Otherwise, the rest of this costume was all done by our shop. It features:
- Accurate scaling to the game's dimensions to real-life (over 7 feet tall).
- Hundreds of individual LEDs.
- Vision through a camera with monitor inside the helmet.
- Fiberglass endo-skeleton for girth and size.
- Puppeteered hand (fingers all move individually).
- Working drill and gears on the drill (see video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/OQu4QQJXV-Y?si=zmQCr5BKVqr42tVJ&fbclid=IwY2xjawF6ZY9leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHVd3cdbXPeTI7nMfjJ6gM6M9-B8fknJSxzHf_FzDuQWnomj7R0opdpX_MQ_aem_E210kE8Uof0j8hmfCdRWzg).
- The suit DOES have noises/sound effects (see video https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-6Rqd2PsIy/?igsh=MW80aGFxNmd6cjlxeQ== )
- Over 40 individually cast or resin printed pieces.
- All leather pieces on the suit are genuine leather pieces other than the base of the boots.
- Pieces cast in urethane resin, fiberglass backed epoxy, foam filled resin, and urethane rubber.
- Suit is a custom pattern splits into 4 pieces with hidden zippers (waist, arms, and torso)
- Paint and weathering is a combination between cold casting and other techniques including using real patina/rusting products, dirty down, etc.
- Helmet and other pieces were modeled directly over the in-game model to ensure accuracy in all proportions.
- The only piece bought and used “as is” more/less is the ropes for the diving weight, however they were heavily distressed.
- Rivets and all bolts, nuts, etc. were all molded and individually cast.
- Here’s an Instagram reel that shows more WIP and behind the scenes of the full suit https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBHK_Q4PYle/?igsh=amZ0ZXBkNzZwY3hk

To give you an idea, I’m not a small guy either. I’m about 6’-6’1 and 188ish pounds. So not small by any means. It is a MASSIVE costume. It takes 2 cars, one of them being a van, to transport it. I think in height it’s about 7’3 from top of the camera to the bottom of the foot once put on.

I am extremely picky about details when it comes to my suits. I do not want it to be able to be viewed as something that is easily identifiable as printed or plastic. There was a LOT of testing done to this guy to make sure it actually looked like the materials I was trying to represent. While the copper took a ton of testing, the leather was actually the hardest to make look like it had been soaked in water for ages. I used my wallet as a reference which has seen many Orlando storms and therefore is completely water damaged, and built off of that.
