The Dark Knight Returns Aka Batman!!!

Our Batman cowl is a mix of silicone, polyfoam and resin. The massive jaw was sculpted to completion first, molded in stone and the cowl was then finished molded in silicone for a urethane casting later turned into a polyfoam cast for weight.
The teeth then sculpted, molded in silicone and cast in resin. Lastly a rough overgrown patchy five o clock shadow was hair punched into the chin.
The muscle suit was patterned off a eva foam mannequin of our model, the suit was then patterned off the muscle suit.
Chest symbol and pouches were then sculpted, molded in silicone and cast in polyfoam.

  • Great to see you here Karrver!

For the muscle suit, did you just glue the upholstery foam muscles to a body suit?
  • Thank you for the labelled muscle group pics, very instructional for the foam suit build.
  • Hey @Alexander H Planet  :)
yes for the muscle suit we placed our body suit over our eva mannequin, then used 2 layers of 74 spray both sides and that gave us a pretty good stick!
  • lol @Darrell Green of course! no worries
  • This is the best Frank Miller Batman costume I've ever seen 🤩🤩🤩
  • @100thatspookybish thank you so much, I appreciate that!
  • I was reading the full artist spotlight for this build and ran across several previous builds that I recognized from other webspaces. Honestly love your work. The digital ape is genious.

This Batman costume is so innocent in its cartoon appearance but is soooooo complex in the build. Loved it the first time I saw it but must admit, the muscle suit pics with what must be 50 or more muscle groups, wow, serious detail, even under the hood. The teeth, the moving sections, the casting processes (serious wow). This was a long haul undertaking that projects a huge cartoon personailty walking around as though he stepped out of a Saturday morning cartoon from my own television.

Link to the artists spotlight SWSCA blog here, with Adam Savage interviewing "Batman". Congrats Karrvers!! I am super stoked you had also done the digital ape, it is one of my favorites from the last few years.
