Accordion Playing Marionette 36" tall - Tribute to Master Marionettist Bil Baird
This accordion-Playing marionette was originally sculpted in clay, then molded in silicone, and cast in resin to create a hollow head. The head animation was just the puppet's lower lip that opens from one side only as he is clenching a cigarette in the right side of his mouth. The head design is a replica of master marionettist, Bil Baird's, "Slugger Ryan," rod puppet. Slugger Ryan was used in the marionette film, "Davy Jones Locker," where Slugger was a honky tonk piano player. The accordion was a toy that was originally manufactured in the 1960's and was the perfect size for this 36" inch tall puppet.
