I made a welsh dragon mask a while ago and I’m looking to redo it

Wanna redo this. Probably one of my earliest projects, I used epoxy clay so it was very heavy so I’m thinking of something lighter next time. Any suggestions?

I have not worked with epoxy clay in large quantities so I cannot grasp the weight. Did you get an actual project weight on this? Because your sculpt has significant detail, well done by the way, I would be more worried about not getting as much detail from lighter materials, bonded paper, foam and similar. If you could get similar detail from paper, you could spray coat it to get the shine. This is definitely worth pursuing if you come out of it with a more usable and comfortable mask. It is definitely worthy of getting some use in performance.

Looks great! I reckon you could do this with EVA foam. You may have to make some base patterns, and then glue layers of foam sheets and carve/sand them to shave, but you can also use foam clay for a medium that is closer to actual clay, sculpting wise. It's a lightweight and relatively durable material that is often used in cosplay.
