Heros and Villians- Lady Vulture
Fear the Vulture and the Vulture will come, Fear Nothing and you ARE the Vulture!! This is my Spider-Man Homecoming Vulture interpretation. I may be tiny, but I am still quite fierce. I built this in less than a month by myself with trash parts and love and managed to fight my way through SDCC with a 13 foot wing span.… -
Monitor Lizard / Human Hybrid
This is "Mary" ...a creature I designed for the horror short, "Mosaic 33" https://www.facebook.com/Mosaic33 She consists of a gelatin half-face appliance, acrylic upper teeth and a Pros-Aide transfer neck (for that reptilian-skin look that is so popular amongst the females?). She also had a silicone glove for one "raptor… -
Fred Flintstone
https://youtu.be/rBgGO6Oagd8 I wanted this piece to sit halfway between the cartoon and something more realistic to create a fun character piece. All lifecasting, sculpting, mould making, foam running, costume fabrication and prop making and application by myself. Foam latex pieces include a full one-piece neck, brow, nose… -

Teen Wolf
So I made this entire costume, including prosthetic mask, wig, jacket, trousers and shirt. This was my first-ish attempt in prosthetics, it's all a one piece latex mask that I can glue onto my face with either telesis 5 or prosaid, and blend in the eyes and lips edges. I started making it in 2010 and I had to stop for a… -
Re: Living and crafting in an appartment building, how did you do it?
On the resin note, I only ever found one truly low fume option and it is the alumilite 5 to 10 minute one that puts out a finished WHITE product. No clear that I have ever tried was anything less than toxic levels of bad regardless of their advertising. And always put fumables in the bathroom with the fan running if you… -
Pacific Mermaid
Based on the board game Betrayal At The House On The Hill haunt #36 Better With Friends, but I am giving it a little twig with The Handmaiden (2016 Korean Movie) flavor. "A group of tourists are visiting a fusion mansion in South Korea, not knowing it is actually haunted by a pacific Mermaid until someone triggers the… -
Re: Thermoplastic?
Polystyrene is a great plastic for vacuum forming, but you can also use ABS or translucent PETG. (among others) You can purchase sheets of plastic online from any number of retailers, including folks on eBay and Amazon, or find a local plastic distributor to save on shipping. One good source is TAP… -
Re: Silicone dino-skin
Cameron, did you ever figure out a working solution for the skin? I'm going to be making a Godzilla 2019 suit, and I am looking to make it as realistic as possible. My plan is to use techniques that were used for the dinosaurs in the Walking with Dinosaurs live show. Including muscle bags, and most importantly, the… -
Jok3rz Customs Small Soldiers
Some of you may know me and some maybe not, but I’ve been dubbed “the worlds biggest Small Soldiers fan” I’ve painstakingly recreated every character that makes up the Gorgonites & Commando Elite using 3d modeling and printing. Everything was done from the ground up using various forms or reference and of course… -
Character Makeup Contest Entry 2, Humanoid Creature 2—full body prosthetic makeup
I conceptualized and created the character and full body prosthetics for this humanoid creature for a micro budget short film I directed and acted in called Lovesick (2018). I created the prosthetics using liquid latex, cotton, and toilet paper along with Ben Nye and Kryolan makeup to complete the look. Teeth from Dental… -
Galactic Zoo Denizen
I made this creature in July 2019. This is a Special Effect Make up Creature inspired by an Alien Scorpion. This beautiful creature here is a trained carnivore who watches humans from outer space but will attack them someday in time. The key characteristic of this alien creature is that it has numerous eyes and teeth that… -
Re: what are the grey balls mentioned in the puppet eye mech video?
Hi Neal, It's possible they are EVA plastic vs. EVA foam, though there are a number of other plastics they could be mad from, like PVC. My best guess is it could be a PVC end cap that had the sides cut away. The basic principal that he is showing there is that there are a wide variety of dome, sphere, or hemisphere forms… -

Re: HOMEWORK WEEK 3
Shannon, please find attached our revised bid. This time I included the concept design you chose and wrote a description of both the creature and its unique features, like the harpoon appendages and another cool front appendage. Not spoiling the surprise though. Let me know what you think of our little addition to what the… -
Character Makeup Contest Entry 1, Humanoid Creature 1--full body prosthetic makeup

Re: Silicone painting medium substitute for PSI-641?
If you are talking about the difference between GE1 and GE2 silicones, it is the cure method. GE1 is an acetoxy cure and releases acetic acid as a cure byproduct. GE2 is a neutral cure and releases methanol and ammonia as a byproduct. The information above is partially correct but there are two types of RTV2 silicones. The… -
Re: Sculpture Mold Help
Thanks for the feedback, Chris! I updated the post to include additional angles of the sculpt. Haven't tried a Glove Mold before, but I can see the benefits from that video. The piece that still worries me, is the hollow interior (basically a cylinder) and slightly concave base (under the limbs). How that works in the mold… -
Question, is it possible to work in this industry, ONLY as a sculptor?
The reason I ask is because I am totally happy when I am sculpting. To get a job as a sculptor in the industry, do you guys have any idea of how awesome of a portfolio one should have? Should an applicant include 10, 15 images? I will look up individual companies, but I just thought I'd ask you folks first. If you guys…
