So I haven't done that much since my last update. So instead I thought I'd show you a little glimpse of how I made the head so far. It's nearly complete, although it's still gonna take time.
I finally finished the sculpture! It took about 7 months. I got stuck so many times on this as it's been very difficult. But I think I got there in the end. As always though, I'm not entirely satisfied.
@Dream Sorcerer Looks so good, mate! Nice job, very considered. Is it all expoxy sculpt? You gonna push it and do a painting pass? or onto the next one. The studio lighting shows the details great- colossal amount of workmanship....
Finished the Cloud Lady with bronze powder and umber paint, with a clear UV gloss. Al
@Steven Taylor ah thank you mate it's much appreciated! Yes used Apoxie Sculpt for most of it apart from the wings membrane which is made from multiple layers of vellum tracing paper and loads of PVA glue. I'm not going to do anything more to it though, as I just want to leave this plain. However, I do plan on moulding it, and then casting it in resin. Then I'll paint it. That's the plan anyway!
This is another interesting piece from you! Really good lines and form dude! How long did it take from start to completion?
super cool- oh man you're going the distance...nice I haven't tried any of the epoxy clays but shit that hand video has me thinking about using it with my 3D prints. OK so she took a few months- maybe 8hrs of zbrush, then I printed a small scale to check the proportions- After that I cut the figure into 3 parts so the final would be about 12inches length wise. Then the filling and cleanup was maybe another 30hrs, broken up over months, it's so humid in FL over the summer I need to give extra drying time between coats, I also fill them with cement so they have some heft. Finally, patina was a bunch of playing with pigment powders and umber.
@Steven Taylor yeah! In fact I'd like to do that with more of my sculptures but it won't be for some time yet. I am looking forward to it though! Ah I'm so pleased to hear that! Yes it's definitely worth you trying it out. I look forward to seeing whatever you do.

It's amazing how lighting from different directions changes its appearance! Although I'm rarely satisfied with whatever I create, I always put my all into it and really enjoy the process.
