Aquaman Impersonation Cosplay Costume / Jason Momoa Impersonation Cosplay Costume

Here starts my Jason Momoa as Aquaman Impersonation Cosplay Costume thread. The goal, as usual, is to create a disguise level makeup that presents as the actor in the costume and not just the costume cosplay.

Jason is a hard target because of the extreme proportions in build, height, skin tones / art, hair and beard.

I had to choose my battles on this project and opted for chest up.

I sculpted the glove parts in nomad and blender then printed and attached to the base gloves. The paint was achieved by my local Industrial Supply where they custom mixed and spray bottled my metallic green.

Here is my first offering from my finished poses. The trident was a purchased stl file, printed and painted at home.

I will continue to load photos of the build process over the next few days and will outline the effects portion of this makeup.

  • Looking good!  Jason Momoa is indeed a high bar to aim for, haha.

  • I purchased a trident 3d file and printed the parts on my little 9 inch bed. Then glued and wire stapled them together (hot staples).

Filled the print lines with filler primer and painted it gold. I only assembled the small portion that would be needed for chest up poses and only printed the front half and kept it always facing the camera.

  • The gloves were a challenge. 48 separate plates per glove to create all the scales needed to have working, movable gloves. I sculpted them all in 3d software and then printed test samples so I could adjust the size for a good fit to my hand.

  • Scalp hair consisted of coloring my gray to a deep reddish brown. Facial hair and scalp crown needed filler:

Eyebrows required eyelift tape and drawn filler using a fine tip eyebrow pen.

I curled my hair, my beard and the frontal hairpiece.
  • Contacts were purchased to match the "avatar" conversion moment and were actually called "Avatar" by the vendor.

Skin tone was attempted with spray tan but the camera quickly readjusted the color back out automatically. The differences between sets of photos was drastic.

When all was complete, I did my usual comparisons using side by sides and split face comps.
