I'm just taking notes for pre-making my blueprints, but need some help with Monster Clay

I'm only taking some notes for the time of the sculpting phase; I am trying to find a proper DIY Monster Clay recipe that is both non-toxic, cheap and effective. Does anyone have a formula that fits the bill of what I'm going for that I can use toward my blueprinting and notes

    Don't know of a good DIY Monster Clay recipe.  I always stick to the official version as it's consistent and reliable.

    Hmm, I think having all three qualities (non-toxic, cheap, effective) may be difficult for a homemade clay that's on par with Monster Clay.  Monster Clay is not cheap, true, but it's effective and non-toxic (and can be used over and over).

    Alternatives may be cheap but not as effective. What is your goal for creating a DIY version? If it's about saving money, sometimes acquiring all the materials to make your own ends up costing more time & money than getting the pre-made product. :sweat_smile: I've learned the hard way before. It's good to experiment, of course! But it can be easy to sink funds into something that doesn't work out, too. Sometimes that's the nature of research & development!

    I actually have a few lbs of brown Monster Clay i am no longer using..i'd be glad to sell it to you at lower cost than what its purchased brand new as...I have them melted and stored in large food containers with lids

    I'm  new to all of this and wondering what projects are used with the hard and soft monster clays?

    The hard and soft versions of monster clay are mostly personal preference.   Both soften when you heat them up, but the soft version is easier to work with your hands and requires less pressure with tools, so your hands don't tire as easily.   The hard can hold sharper detail more easily.
