Vampire teeth

Hi!

A client asked me to do a customized vampire teeth for a project. I was thinking to do something similar using B-Form plastic sheets that I have in my lab, but i'm not sure how to achieve that result.

I was thinking to cover the dental positive with B-Form, then working directly on top with dental composite. I could try the same method I use for full dentures (sculpting, doing the negative mold and then use dental acrylic to fill the mold and close it with a positive of the teeth with B-Form on top, but I think it's a waste of products... I'm trying to stay as low budget as I can for this commission!

Do you have any tips?

Also, I've notice that even if I use dental plaster for the positive of the teeth, it breaks very easily. Is there a resin not so expensive that I can use for the positive mold?

Thanks !!!

  • I tried but it completely failed. The UV light didn't polymerize well the composite, after I put the glaze & sealer by Acrylstains on top the textures changed with small white lines and stains.
Also I I couldn't smooth it out, and if you see the second pic the teeth are thick and you can see the dental mask.

    Anyone has other suggestions?

  • You may be able to sand/polish the teeth down with a rotary tool to fix the rough surface.  To grind down the deeper bumps you could try one of the sandpaper "flapwheels", which can work on curved surfaces.  Then move over to the felt polishing tools and polishing compounds.

  • Thank you Chris! So the procedure is right? I was wondering if maybe I should have put the acrylic inside the b form
  • Looks like you did it correctly.  The dental acrylic should be the outer layer, and the vacuum-formed portion is there for support and holding things in place.

  • Thanks! I saw that after I put and take if off on my mouth the acrylic the acrylic came off the vacuum-formed plastic. I didn't use any glue or something, should I put a layer of something before sculpting the teeth on top of the plastic?
