  • I was awaiting shipping on a few items to finish some of my works in progress. This led to the usual distraction of "a quick looking build". I have wanted to do Denethor, Steward of Gondor, and his tomato for some time now and this pause in my other projects seemed like a slam dunk. My hair is long, so just gray it, let the stubble grow, mine is already gray, a velvet blanket and one strip of white fur..... done......

I have now purchased 3 black velvet throws, one faux rabbit fur rug, designed and printed the vase, the cup (which still needs some decoration), faked the undershirts with a full print of same and finished the ring. So here I am, filling out the full thread for a build, still not complete, on a whiz bang, super quick, slam dunk easy build. Which isn't really, at all, easy.

So, here is the thread to document my processes, successes and failures in my attempt to do a disguise level impersonation cosplay costume of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, loud eater and one time strong defender of the lands of Middle Earth.

My inspiration photos and intended poses (Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King, Citadel great hall, dinner scene):

See? Easy Peasy. Then I zoomed out.

  • Main elements for the John Noble - Denethor pose:

    1) Gray Hair (testing done)

    2) Stubble, facial prosthetics (nose) and age makeup and effects

    3) Colored Contacts (purchased)

    4) Robe (patterned, sewn, complete)

    5) Under shirts - Also robes - 2 layers (cheesy cheat...done)

    6) Ring - signet ring of the Steward of Gondor (designed, printed, painted, done)

    7) Chair (altered, enhanced, painted, done)

    8) Cup (scanned, cleaned, printed, decorated, painted, done)

    9) Vase - pitcher (scanned, cleaned, printed, painted, done)

    10) platters of food (thrift shop purchases, done)

    11) Backdrop (very likely cutting this in through a background clipper but we shall see what comes up)

  • in progress:..... sadly this one ran 14 full pages of costume build, props, hair and etcetera galore and I just can't get myself to copy all 14 pages over so here is the link to the build thread and I apologize but the ads that show up over there are pretty bad so be aware:
