What's On Your Workbench?

  •  I am closing in on completion of my Ron Swanson cosplay. I am awaiting some facelift tape and cord combo items to raise the eyebrows. I have purchased the wardrobe items and have been working on sculpting/trimming a faux mustache (purchased). I will be blocking half of my brows as well. i will post further after my tapes come in. Here is a test split face comp from today, more work to be done for sure:

  • oooohhh nice
  • My friends eldest needs a badass costume. I needed a use for my massive amount of orphaned castings from this one cosplay project.  currently all the placements are done. Everything will need stitching, it s basically a leather work job. The castings are PU and I ve found nothing that sticks to it. We ll do weathering and detailing end of the month.

  • My most recent latex mask of a charred zombie, just finished this the other day, and a picture of me and my actual work bench with some older and newer projects.

Everyone always asks, "What should I put on an effects resume?"....... me pointing to this bench picture.....

So, late, late last night I finished Ron. Lots of technique here but I will create a full Ron thread and cover the makeup, effects, costume and props separately. After I finished the meme, I was just too tired to post so here is my closest comp pic to the original meme. The mole is there too but focus was lost after it became a meme.

    Update, link to full thread:

  • I’m making the inner mechanics of a beating heart and an para-aramid composite mask with some mechanical bits!
  • Hello,
I am working on new monster gloves. I built a couple of left and right hand armatures out of Loctite Spray foam with a wire frame underneath. I used that to build my monster gloves on. I made the fingers and thumb removable to make it easier to remove. Problem is I am still having problems demoulding the gloves. Broke one of the armatures and the hand is caught inside the monster glove. So I have need for advice that is divided in A and B questions.

A: What can I do to remove these gloves now to salvage them?

B: I need to know if my plan for building my next pair of hand armatures as thin as possible, down to the wire frame and just sculpt the design of the gloves in clay, make a two part mould and then use the hand armatures as the core to make the gloves on will be the best way to go about it or if anyone can advise other wise.

These will be Special effect latex gloves that fit like a second skin for the wearer. Do the stretch material will be added to the armatures post putting them in the moulds for the final results.

Here are some pics of the current ones I’m struggling with. Your advice will be very much appreciated.
  • Working on a new Monster tiki Torch.
I just have to finish the bottom and a little on the backside before I mold it.

  • I finished this prop a few weeks ago.

  • I helped create this disgusting bathroom for the Haunted House I work at. The actor is going to spirits water on people with a toilet bowl brush. Yes it's as disgusting as it sounds. We got the idea from another haunt. It was awfully disgusting that we both decided we needed to do it for the haunt. People are not going to be happy🤣🤣🤣.
Grossed out and scared😈 I made the pooh out of latex, cabosil, old peanut butter cereal and some corn.
  • Finished my oven. Bought a cheap mixer and made my foam latex Vampire brow with cheeks. I just got some teeth so now I need to put it all together and do the makeup.
  • This was the most recent thing on my workbench. It was originally going to be for the contest a few months ago but I didn’t finish it in time for that deadline. A rotary telephone that spontaneously evolves and begins growing working, internal organs.

If you would like to see it working, here’s the finished micro-film.
