Zombie Bride 2024

Zombie Bride 2024 was what I created for my last practical exam for university a few months ago. The first idea I had when it came to the design was a zombie that had been washed up on the beach in a cocktail dress but having so much skin on show I quickly changed my mind. After thinking about it I thought to myself, I know I will bring my zombie bride back. I had created a zombie bride for a past competition but this one was going to be made in silicone as we had just completed a 3-day class with the amazing Stuart Bray after picking his brain and getting lots of inspiration for example his tip for making the zombie look slimy was to use hair gel and it worked like a dream.

I created moulds for two hand prosthetics and lower arms, chest area, neck and face. I also used the hand prosthetics and applied them on the model back utilising all my practice prosthetics, it looked effective and I’m so glad that I recycled them into a backpiece. I'm a great believer in recycling and if something didn’t come out right, you could always utilise it for something else recycle and reuse.
The moulds didn’t come out the way  I wanted them to or the way they should be created but it was a learning adventure I definitely know what not to do now but this has always been my way of learning, also I have plans for the mould so in a way I'm glad I made them this way.

As for the paint job I reached out to an artist on my Instagram called Tim Gore who was so helpful and gave me a great tip on how to make my zombie skin look bloody amazing he told me in a way my brain understood as I'm dyslexic and find it very hard with written instructions. 

I made fake zombie nails by using polymorph beads when warmed and when they were ready to use I pressed them against fake nails and then waited until they were dry popped them off and painted them with alcohol paints which was effective. 
I worked so hard on this project, hours in the studio hours sculpting, moulding, cleaning, and brainstorming, but in the end, I was in love with her she was just how I imagined her.
