Welcome to the Stan Winston School of Character Arts
Monster Making Contest!

How to Enter:

To enter this contest simply post a new discussion in the "MONSTER MAKING CONTEST" category. Please include a description and high rez pictures of your monsters. Video submissions are cool, too! Just upload your video(s) to YouTube and share the link in your post.

To be considered, all entries must be a monster (an imaginary frightening creature), but may be created with ANY artistic technique, from a traditional pencil sketch to a Photoshop rendering, from a clay sculpture to a ZBrush model, from puppets to makeups to monster suits and more!

Entries can be based on an original design or on a well-known monster, as long as the entry itself is primarily the work of the entrant.

Have you made lots of monsters? Not a problem! You can submit as many as 3 entries to the contest. So share your monsters and you could win the Grand Prize!

  • When posting our entries is it ok to create 3 separate posts? Each with a single monster submission?

Or one post containing all 3 the submissions?

    Thanks in advance!
  • @Creaturehut it is best to post each entry as its own discussion with a detailed description.
  • Greetings,
Can I be in the picture or does it have be just a picture of my creation? How do you feel about dragons?
  • Entered! Love SWSCA!
  • @Jennifer Sparks It's ok if you are in the photo.  Just make sure your photos show off all the awesome detail of your work!

  • Hello, I got an email saying that the deadline is tomorrow?? Curious as to whether or not this was a mistake??  I was working off the may 25th deadline!  Thanks!
  • Hi @Indigo Smith,

I apologize for any confusion about the deadline.  I believe that email was sent with the wrong information.  The posted date here is May 25th, which is the correct deadline.  Keep those entries coming!

    Thanks,

    /Chris
  • thanks !
  • Hi Chris!
At my third entry I posted some of my original creature designs and I add some pictures. It's only one design for entry? Or can I post more at the same entry?
  • Jose,  Please post each entry as it's own discussion.  This makes judging and commenting on submissions much easier.

    Thanks,

    /Chris
