The Underdweller

Wearable latex mask with fabric hood.

This mask was inspired by a halloween mask design from Keith Ward, an incredible illustrator from the mid 20th century. This one specifically:

I focused on the essence of the design, adding details where they felt appropriate. This was sculpted in monster clay, intended to be a face mask worn with a hood.

From there it got a hydrocal mold with a latex casting. Painting with rubber paints was new to me, especially with an airbrush, but it was a great learning experience.

The hood was a piece of cloth from the craft store, washed and dried to age it and really bring out it's texture.
Thanks for looking!
