"What We Do in the Shadows" Dolls
Hi Everyone, I'm Georgia!
What We Do in the Shadows is my #1 favorite TV show, and one of my favorite movies.
When I came down with a chronic illness called Long Covid in the fall of 2020, I could no longer work. I had to think of something to fill my time. I thought it would be fun to make my own Nadja doll (there is a doll on the TV show). The process was very enjoyable, and I found that making the dolls did not aggravate my symptoms! So then I just kept making dolls for the rest of the characters, too! And then I made dolls from the movie.
Creating these dolls really helped me cope while being sick. They are all sculpted faces on top of porcelain. I used Aves Apoxie Sculpt and it is air-dry so no baking is needed. Their eyes are buttons! I used to do hair before I got sick, so it was fun for me to give them all unique haircuts. And I hand-sewed or glued all of their clothes. Each doll took around a month to make, and I worked on them a little each day. I also made Youtube videos that show my process. The dolls were all created by me but are based on characters from the TV show and Movie.
