Love to sculpt monsters Or sculpt to love monsters?

I’d like to draw and sketch my characters first and then I’ll begin to sculpt them. I use air dry clay so it’s pretty brittle and they often break. Not sure what kind of clay to use always wanted to experiment with the professional work that Stan Winston studios use with silicone molds and the casting and things like that but never really know how to start with that
