Feeding Zombie - Wall Art Relief
The horror genre has always been a refuge and a creative outlet for me. As a kid zombies were one of the things that terrified (and fascinated) me the most, something about the slow, deliberate shambling; the clouded eyes and the insatiable hunger for human flesh. This wall art relief, a painted resin cast of a clay sculpture, depicts a zombie disturbed, mid-feeding; peering around to stare down a hapless survivor, inspired by the zombies of the Romero movies and the Resident Evil video game series by Capcom. I used tinted epoxy resin for the eye and gory jaws to really make those elements pop, recalling those images that haunted me growing up. Fun fact: the teeth are actually resin copies of my own teeth embedded in the sculpture before molding.
