Der Kindestod: Pumpkin Sculpted homage to Buffy The Vampire Slayer monster
Yes, this sculpt is made entirely of PUMPKIN!
In an episode "Killed by Death" (S2 Ep18) Buffy the Vampire Slayer introduced viewers to a nightmare inducing character named "Der Kindestod" (The Child Death).
This creature was designed by Joss Whedon and played by actor James Jude Courtney. While I cannot find information on who did the original sculpt, IMDB lists Todd McIntosh as the makeup supervisor and John Vulich as the spfx makeup creator. This was my first attempt at adding pieces to a pumpkin while sculpting it. This was my first attempt at adding pieces to a pumpkin while sculpting it. The nose and the chin were the only additions and were affixed using superglue, then shaped. The rest is solid pumpkin and was sculpted using loop tools, knives, and linocut tools.
