Lon Chaney Sr. inspired Phantom of the Opera

I tried to imitate the incredible makeup done by the man of 1000 faces in the 1925 The Phantom of the Opera. I attempted to recreate the look using similar techniques as Lon Chaney Sr.

My Phantom makeup using Ben Nye grease paint, Tayor Maid mortician's wax, Mehron liquid latex, Mehron rigid collodion, cotton, Mehron Sealer, Yak hair, and JB Weld water weld epoxy hand sculpted teeth.

I was able to take photos with a Wurlitzer organ during a presentation of the original Phantom of the Opera 1925 silent film accompanied by an organist at the Edison Street Organ Loft this past Halloween season (2019).

Unfortunately the house lights started to melt the wax over the course of the evening resulting in some less blended lumpy areas that started to detach.
