How do can you smooth edges and wrinkles with oil based clay ?
In the how to sculpt a latex mask course I saw that Tim used just a simple brush to combine and smooth edges or wrinkles perfectly out, would this thing work somehow also on monster clay or chavant?

Chris Ellerby AdminOn clays like Chavant and Monster clay you can smooth forms using a brush on its own (depending on how soft/warm the clay is and the nature of the form you are smoothing) or a brush with a solvent. Milder solvents like 99% isopropyl alcohol have a more subtle effect, but you can also use harsher solvents like Naptha, lighter fluid, NoVOCS from Smooth On, mineral spirits, etc. You can also use baby powder and a brush for some types of smoothing as well.
You can also flame polish using an alcohol lamp/torch or a butane torch, just be careful you don't over heat the clay and get a drippy mess. After flame polishing I use a can of freezing spray or a can of air duster turned upside down to freeze the surface so the clay is not too soft to sculpt.
