tin cure vs platinum cure

I'm making a hyper realistic fine art sculpture.  I've made the mold out of platinum because I assumed that the cast had to be made out of platinum.  But when watching Jaimie Grove painting video that head was a tin cure cast.  This same cast was used for the hair punching lesson.    I've made a platinum cure cast to learn on and test techniques.  Question is - Should I be casting in platinum cure or tin cure for my final piece?  Are there advantages to one over the other.  I am using Smooth-on products.

  • You would likely want your cast pieces to be platinum silicone, as that is what has the best properties for lifelike applications.
