I do also have this piece that was not on my website (my clients asked me not to post it on my site because they use it as a reveal in their stage show - but they did say I could put it in my book. Or on the tablet I'm now going to buy )
Above I posted picture candidates ranging from special effects, film stills, & beauty makeup for my portfolio. A lot of my work has been photographed on the go (taken at the job or from a picture I obtained from the final product, or a still that was taking on set/during a project). Therefore, I found that many of my preferred portfolio pictures are in bad lighting and poor focus. I was also curious if magazine article, publications and such should be left out of the website and portfolio, or just not included with the portfolio pictures? Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! xo
Shannon, we wanted to share a couple of works we couldn't put on the website you looked at.
These are works we made for Riot Games, for their game League of Legends. Are these works good for a portfolio as these are only in-game items of which no phisical prop was ever made? I guess they can show our skill in taking a concept and turning it into a real prop? Thanks!
Just found this thread - Okay, let's begin with YOU Julie - EDIT, EDIT, EDIT! PLEASE! I know you are proud of your work as you should be, but if I were going to review your work, I'd look at probably 5 of these photos and then leave the site. It is TOO OVERWHELMING! Show ONLY your BEST work!
Fulvio, all I can say is WOW! Your work is so refined and perfect! I know that if you do your own designs and your own work, you'll find an eager market waiting for you! Love your stuff!
Francesca! I told you during class how much I like these photos over the others. I still think you can have a smaller photo of a model wearing your creations, but they should be against a neutral background and well lit!
Byron, be careful of texture matches and blend edges! As you get more experienced your work will become refined, but this is a great start!
Shannon, THANKS! We try the best we can to make the cleanest items. Your words feel so good! We need to sell our skills better I don't know if we get to talk to you 1 hour after the course is over, but if we do, I'd love to ask you a few advices on how to build our image in order to attract clients with decent budget as right now, we only get people willing to spend very low amounts of money. I know it really has to do with the items we're replicating as there are a ton of guys doing this all over the world. I know we should try find a way to be unique and make people say: "OMG, I want that done!". We know what we have to do, but it feels a little foggy how to achieve it.

Thanks again sir!
Any thoughts on my cyclops baby (first comment in this thread, just before Julie's work)?
