Can Matte Clear be used as a substitute for Dulling Spray?

Just wondering if this has the same effect.  I put crystal clear on my sculpt and found that the hydrocal wouldn't stick to it which is why the dulling spray is used I assume.

    I've not tried the matte clear with hydrocal, but it may help.  I would do a small test on some scrap material and see how hydrocal responds to it.  It's not quite the same as a dulling spray, but it does have a matting agent added to it that may help.
