Students will experiment with techniques for sculpting eyes and adjusting workspace lighting and shadow to achieve different approaches to “seeing” your sculpture in progress. Students will also begin to learn how to sculpt believable wrinkles and how to approach creating a rough concept in clay before diving into the details.

Students will take their exploration of eye sculpting further, expand out into the bony processes of the brow, experimenting with creating emotion with the brow and how to simulate various eyebrow textures with clay, from hair to fur and even moss. Students will also be practicing sculpting wounds in all their variety, including adding stitches, staples or cauterization to a wound and creating the illusion of layers within the flesh. Finally students will be practicing approaches for creating a variety of animal and creature skin textures.

Students will experiment with techniques for sculpting veins, exploring the different levels of vascularity and how the veins flirt with the surface of the skin. Students will also practice sculpting teeth from many different creatures, exploring the size, shape and markings of each tooth as well as the defining the gums exploring the forms and adding to the overall realism of the teeth

Students will experiment with techniques for creating fantastical designs in their creatures by playing with the forms and outlines of the piece. Techniques for creating cracks in bone and ceramics, impact fractures and creating depth in the cracks by adding levels of depth. To finish off the lesson Don will walk you through creating H.R. Geiger style bio-mechanical designs by creating an interplay between organic swooping lines with mechanical boxes and lines as well as embedding materials in your sculpt.

In this lesson we learn techniques for creating grotesque burns with scar tissue and refining forms, reading the shadows to 'see' the forms, refining further by breaking the skin and creating broken blisters and detail in the scar tissue . In the final part of the lesson the student will leverage the power of the x and picking to add fine detail to the skin and scar tissue around the burn.

In this lesson the student will be exploring blocking out the ear anatomy, creating the basic forms and masses of the ear and then refining the shapes and anatomy to finish out the ear to a smooth machined polish. Then we will return to veins; exploring arteries and overloaded bulging veins
