Cap plastic on silicone after the piece has been demolded for a while?

Wondering if cap plastic only works if you add it to a freshly cured piece? Like if I have something that is a week old or longer can I add cap plastic to it and it still work for adhering it to someone?

As long as the surface is clean the cap plastic should work.
