The original 9 short film and the theatrical movie are two of my all time favorite pieces of animation. Loving seeing this kind of stuff.
If I may make a suggestion however, try closing the ends of the sleeves if possible to avoid making it look like you're wearing oversized clothing. If memory serves right, the Stitchpunks have mechanical wrists and ankles that closes the cloth part of their body. Maybe you can make gauntlets and boots that resemble steampunk prosthetic limbs to tuck in the fabric.
