What do you do to chavant clay before you paint?

I am new to sculpting and I was wondering what do I do to the clay before I paint my sculpture? Any help would be great

You shouldn't have to do anything. Just use the right paint. Did you check out Jordu's lesson. He paints it right on and it looks amazing

Hi guys .... don't know how long this thread has been open .... but was wondering about clay painting ..... is it ok to paint chavant with acrylic paint ? Anything to do before ? Kind of primer or ... ? Thanks a lot and keep posting . P.S. Not finished yet .... lots more details to do .... but preparing
