What is a good material to smooth/seal a rough resin core to prepare for silicone?
in General
I've made a reduced core of myself in resin, sanded it, expanded on the bottom with fiber glass and painted it. I'd like the surface to be slicker before I run silicone. I'm not sure how to proceed beyond re sanding and filling imperfections with two part epoxy. I read about a spray on or brush on material that sounds like what I might need but I forgot what it was called.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Chris Ellerby AdminYou could sand the surface and then brush on a low-viscosity resin. https://www.smooth-on.com/category/urethane-resin/ The "Smooth-Cast" series from Smooth-On would be a good candidate. I would just make sure that it reacts well to the existing resin and fiber glass you have on your form. (a small test on the bottom or on some scrap material would be good)
Another option is to sand and fill with bondo and then spray on a clear coat.
