wet foam sculpting

I noticed in Ted Haines' wet foam sculpting tutorial that when he spatulates out the foam latex it is pretty rough and has pretty hard tool marks in it.  Then later in the lesson when he brings it back much of the tool marks have softened quite a bit.  So the question I have is should wet foam latex be left in a warm area for a few hours to soften the tool marks, is that a thing that will happen?

Thanks for any advice!

    Hi John,

The foam will naturally slump a bit and lose some of the surface details until it starts to firm up.  It's also possible that he soothed it slightly off camera.
