Materials for Metallic Painting
in Painting
Hi all,
We watched the tutorial by Rob Ramsdell on how to do Metallic Painting Techniques.
https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/tutorials/character-creation-tutorial-metallic-painting-stan-winston-school#
In the material list he is referring to a couple of materials which might be hard to get in/to Europe.
- Naphtha, is this comparable material to Zippo Fluid? Or what could we use?
- Automotive Clear Coat, can we just take a standard 2 component Automotive clear coat?
Hope to hear from you,
Thanks, Teun

Naphthalene is in a lot of lighter fluids, so you may have some luck there. There is also a Smooth On product called "NOVOCS" http://www.smooth-on.com/Silicone-Rubber-an/c2_1128_1401/index.html
And the standard automotive clear coat is all you need. Just do a test with the brand you have access to and see how it reacts to your painting process on a test piece first.
