Skeletor 2026 Costume
Skeletor

This Skeletor costume was a custom-built project that combined 3D printing, foam fabrication, painting, sewing, electronics, and extensive hands-on experimentation to bring the character’s appearance from the upcoming Masters of the Universe film to life.
The process began with researching the character’s design, gathering references, and planning how to recreate the armor, skeletal details, clothing, and iconic Havoc Staff while keeping everything wearable. The armor and accessories were individually 3D printed, with larger components divided into smaller sections for printing and assembly. Each piece required fitting, reinforcement, sanding, filling, and priming before painting.
Considerable attention went into the finishing process. Multiple layers of paint, including metallic finishes, shading, and weathering, were applied to create the appearance of aged metal, bone, and battle-worn armor. Additional details were hand-sculpted from foam to create organic shapes and textures that couldn’t be achieved through printing alone.
The Havoc Staff was another major undertaking, constructed from multiple printed components that were assembled, strengthened, and carefully finished to resemble aged bone. Electronic lighting elements were incorporated into the costume design, including the skull’s red illuminated eyes, adding another dimension to the character’s sinister appearance.
The fabric portions required their own experimentation. A spandex base was used for flexibility and comfort, while the hood and dark-purple cape involved selecting materials, testing textures and finishes, and developing methods for attaching the fabric securely to the armor. The cape was treated to achieve a weathered, slightly shimmering appearance. The footwear was also assembled and modified from individual pieces to better match the character’s design.
Finally, all the components were brought together through repeated fittings, adjustments, and attachment work to ensure the costume could be worn and moved in. Throughout the build, failed prints, material challenges, redesigns, and last-minute repairs made trial and error an essential part of the process.
The finished costume represents a combination of digital fabrication and traditional craftsmanship, with each component individually developed, assembled, and detailed to create a cohesive interpretation of Skeletor.
