Dental Acrylic for eyes

edited June 11 in General
Hi I just watched the:

Making Creature Eyes

John Cherevkaand was wondering why the dental acrylic for casting etc. The reason mainly being I have various clear resins such a epoxy etc and want to make some eyes for my pieces but could do without more shelf life casting liquids etc if I can avoid it. Is it a case of what they like/use and are used to or is there advantages?

  • You can absolutely try other recipes for this.  Dental acrylic is a good option as it is easy to color, polishes nicely, does not shrink much as it cures, and is durable.  Feel free to experiment with whatever casting materials you have access to.
