Goblin Slayer Cosplay
This was a costume that I had been interested in making for a long while and a little over a year ago, I had begun working on the helmet and as October grew closer, I decided I would finish it for that year's Halloween. Now this year I decided to make the sword and shield as well as create the belt with bags on the costume which, with the whole costume, was made from eva foam and fabric.
The Foam was something I solely got from Amazon as well as contact cement. But all the fabrics used came from the now closed Joanns. (they will be missed).
The toughest part of this whole costume was the sewing! I had never even touched a needle or sewing machine before this project and so I decided I would learn how to use a machine and make it by myself with little to no help. Every piece came out just how I wanted it to, the best part of making any of the armor pieces was the weathering process and getting to age it. I ended up using black and brown ink as color and black paint as a thickener just because I dont like working with a thin dark wash, I much prefer something thick.
Lastly, the happiest thing I did on this whole costume was the finish on each piece of armor and prop. I heat sealed the foam, then applied multiple layers of Mod Podge sealant. Once that was dry I'd hand paint layers of silver (this was because the metallic paint I used was thin but great so it required 3 total layers). Then I did my dark wash and once dry, used Krylon clear coat.
My best cosplay I've built to date.
