Goosebumps- Haunted Masks 1 &2!!
"VIEWER BEWARE YOUR IN FOR A SCARE!!!"
I re-created these latex masks from the original 90's kids TV show "Goosebumps" as a lifelong fan of the series and an artist I decided that this was the year I would finally make them! Both of the masks are full head latex masks made using the basic techniques, the first ones teeth are made out of hand sculpted thermo plastic and epoxied over, the second one was pulled from the mold with the one tooth intact, (i got lucky). Both are finished off with Skin Illustrator Colors for good measure. Not 100% accurate but I think I got pretty close, I got as many screen grabs as I could and was also lucky enough to find photos of both masks in the original FX shop in Canada as reference when sculpting and painting them. My mask (the second one, one tooth) was sculpted on the Ed head form, while the other was sculpted on a very rough life cast of my girlfriend.
One more thing to mention, I screen matched the clothing as best as I could from the show for myself finding the exact same flannel shirt and gray cardigan online, whereas my girlfriend's costume is more closely resembling the book cover (seen in the photo). Books were thrifted/ bought on Ebay.
More photos of the masks and my other works can be found on my instagram @ CarlosGomezFX
Please let me know what you think and have a happy halloween!
