Chainsaw Man Costume (From Chainsaw Man)
Here's my Chainsaw man costume for the 2025 competition. It features
motorized chainsaws on both the head and the arms, and a miniature smoke
machine in the back of the head to really make it look like a fast
moving chainsaw.
The helmet was primarily 3D printed and the chainsaws was made using a mix of 3D printing and lasercutting techniques. The teeth of the blades are all made of a foam so they're convention safe. To get the chainsaws to move I used miniature worm motors and a 12v power supply that hides in the helmet for that chainsaw and in a pouch that clips onto my belt hidden under my shirt for the arms saws. The neck sleeve for the costume was made off of a 3D scan of my head where I sculpted the texture of corrugated pipes going up my neck then 3D printed that using TPU so it was a perfect fit. The scenic was my favorite part using lots of different metal finishes and metallic reds for the head, and in the eyes is a piece of one way acrylic so I can see a bit better when looking forwards (though I mostly look out through the mouth). Finally there's a miniature smoke machine in the top of the helmet that routes out through the back to make it look like the helmet is running hot and pumping smoke. The whole helmet was designed to be an incredibly tight fit with everything made very small so the helmet looks more like a head rather than a helmet. To put it all on, the jaw actually pulls down off the helmet and a hinge splits the helmet in half so I can fit my head inside.

If you'd like to see all the chainsaws running you can have a look at this demo video:
