Bioshock - Big Daddy Costume: 2025 Halloween Costume Contest
I made this Halloween costume for my son based on the Big Daddy character from the video game Bioshock. I originally created the body using expanding foam over a styrofoam frame, but the final result way much too heavy. I used this carved version to create my own pattern, which was then used to recreate it using much lighter EVA foam.
I 3d modeled the rivets, vents and portholes, and printed them all using PLA plastic. The acryllic dome was purchased.
The majority of the body, including the protective cage and drill are made from EVA foam, painted with a patina paint and splattered with Pale Night Productions' Permablood and PermaGore for effect. The fuel tank used a concrete tube form for a base, with a carved expanding foam top and EVA foam valve and embellishments. The apron was formed using PVC board, and LED lights were installed to indicate mood, swapping between yellow, green and red as per the video game. The drill was made using EVA foam and is powered by a disassembled 12v cordless drill.
