Spider Business - Halloween Contest 2025
Spider Business

Aka spider alien (alien - “a hypothetical or fictional being from another world” / “a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living”). Only 0.5% of all spider species are potentially dangerous to human beings, but we as people tend to categorize all of them as harmful. We develop phobias about them based on how they look and based on what we know about a minimal portion of them. Spiders also generally do not attack humans unprompted and will only bite in acts of self-defense. Regardless of how they present themselves and try to integrate within our world, the way they are viewed is not changed.
All makeup, wig, and clothes made completely from scratch with the exception of the black turtleneck.

I made the face cast with ultracal, and used Monster Clay medium to sculpt out the spider. I then used Monster Clay soft for the flashing, and also made the eyes out of black resin, teeth out of polymorph plastic, and legs out of card stock paper and hot glue. The negative mold was made with platsil gel 25, and the positive was also cast with platsil gel 25 that was softened to about an A2 hardness with deadener. I painted it with an Iwata Neo airbrush and SmoothOn's Pyscho Paint + PPI alcohol based palette for the teeth.
