Haloween costume - Vodnik
This is my interpretation of the Slavic water demon — Vodnik — a creature dwelling in rivers and lakes, luring unsuspecting victims into his territory to drown them.
The SFX makeup for this project was entirely made from scratch. I began by studying the anatomy of aquatic animals and examining references of drowned, swollen, and decaying human bodies, then combined these influences into one cohesive design. All prosthetics were sculpted, molded, cast in silicone, hand-painted with alcohol-based paints, and finally applied by me. I completed the entire process alone, without any assistants; the application itself took around five hours.
The costume was created using secondhand rugs, which were dyed, sewn together, and stylized to achieve a weathered, organic look. The remaining elements of the costume were crafted from authentic fishing nets, hooks, and ropes, enhancing the creature’s connection to its watery, deadly habitat.
