“Hell Reborn” – Silicone FX Bust

“Hell Reborn” is a hyper-realistic silicone bust inspired by the legendary Hellboy—reimagined through the lens of FX artistry. This piece is based on the original design by Luiz Fernando Cavalcanti Vieira, and has been reinterpreted through an intense process of painting, hair work, and surface enhancement to create a creature ready for the screen.
Although the base form was not sculpted by hand, this 25 cm bust was fully transformed through layered silicone painting using an airbrush, capturing depth, heat, and infernal presence. The rich red tones were built with translucent silicone pigments to replicate skin-like qualities, while dark shading and highlights emphasize the anatomy and power of this demonic figure.
The eyes—burning with supernatural intensity—were carefully painted to create a sense of presence and inner fire. The beard and hair were individually hand-punched, adding texture and realism, while the iconic curled horns were reworked with a weathered finish to emphasize Hellboy’s mythic past.
From start to finish, this was a meticulous FX transformation process: from preparation and painting to hair application and final detailing. All steps of the creative journey are documented through accompanying process images.
This is not just a bust—it’s a reinterpretation through silicone and pigment. It’s a tribute to a legendary character, built not from clay, but from craft, vision, and fire.
