Silicone Mask Making Part 1: Epoxy Course Questions
in Lab work
During the course Mike uses different materials to make the epoxy shell for the mask. But got a little confused as to why each one is to be used. Below is what I know and some of which I have questions
- - EpoxACoat - this is used for a detail layer?
- - Nails in mouth - why do this? I know it's from experience but what happens if this is not done?
- - Urefil - to build a dam, I think i understand this. I am just not sure what the fill inside is for.
- - EpoxACast 650 - what is this for?
- - EpoxAmite 300 - what is different than the others
- - Freeform Air?
- - Habitat black epoxy putty?

Urefil is a thickening additive for resins that can
EpoxACast is a clear casting resin
EpoxAmite is an epoxy resin system designed for laminating.
Freeform Air is a lightweight two-part epoxy dough that is often used to build up structure or fill in areas.
Habitat is another two-part epoxy dough, but it has different properties.
Hope that helps!
