What should I make my mold out of?
Hello! I’m just starting to get in to prosthetic making and finally have the budget to invest in silicone. I have made flat molds at school before, but this time I would like to make a face prosthetic. I have made my sculpt (cat nose) from monster clay on a mannequin and made a wall around it out of clay as well. I have release agent spray, syncap and plastik-10+deadened to make the prosthetic. My question is should I make the mold from platsil-25, plaster or something else like polyurethane?
Thanks so much for this website and general knowledge sharing it’s fantastic and appreciated!!

When casting flexible parts you'll typically want to have a rigid mold. I would go with an epoxy and fiberglass mold. Our course on silicone mask-making covers epoxy mold making in great detail and should work for your needs.
