Alternative to dental acrylic?
in General
I have been trying to decide the best way to make a set of custom dentures for a cosplay project, and am having trouble sourcing dental acrylic. Most places no longer carry it, and those that do seem to only sell in large volumes. For example, if I were to order from theengineerguy, I would have to buy 1 lb of the pink powder, 4 oz of the tooth color, and 8 oz of liquid monomer. With shipping, that ends up being nearly $170 just for the acrylic. I'm only making one set of teeth for myself to wear, and simply don't need that much material.
With that in mind, I am wondering if there is another material I could look into using. Would a firm, body-safe silicone work for a set of costume teeth? What about an epoxy resin for the teeth, and a coating of denture wax for the gums? From what I understand it just needs to be pourable into my two-part silicone mold, and safe to have in my mouth for several hours. What materials fit those criteria?
Thanks!
