Fiberglass bandage mold + gel coat?
in Lab work
I'd like to make a rigid mold with a smooth interior surface. Fiberglass casting bandages look like a lot less hassle than actually laying down the glass fiber myself, but I assume that the inside will have the bandage texture if I use them for the interior layer.
Do you think that fiberglass bandages would stick to a resin gel coat (or heck, a plaster print print coat)? In that case, I just have to pour on a gel coat and then go to town with bandages - a lot less mess all around. (And it'll reduce the amount of time I have to work in the cold, because that stuff is stinky.)

I believe the fiberglass bandages would need to be based on the same resin formula for them to stick to a print/gel coat. I would do a small test using the materials you have, and if that works, you should be able to scale up.
