Can You Make a Plaster Mold from a Latex Mask?

Hey all, so my question is that. I have a latex mask that I had made but the detail in the Original plaster mold chipped away. Was curious if I were to foam fill the mask, could I create another mold from that mask?

  • You sure can.  My suggestion would be to put the latex mask back in the original mold before filling the mask with foam, to prevent it from bulging out and distorting as the foam expands.

Your mold will lose a bit of the detail from the original sculpt/mold, but you can use the new mold to cast up a clay copy and sculpt any missing detail back in before molding the new sculpt.

That said, only do this if you are the creator of the original mask (as you are in this case) or have permission from the original artist.
